Are you nothing more than the sum of your biological instincts?

Well the answer I think seems clearly to be no, it clearly violates Cartesian dualism for one, of which there is a lot of good evidence and on the philosophical level, great thought experiments.

But secondly and most importantly it would fall prey directly to the argument from reason as 'nothing more than the sum of [ones] biological instincts' would include rationality, this is of course assuming that you envision this sum as naturalistic, if not then nevermind.

If so however then it would have to explain everything as matter in motion, matter in motion is irrational, so its explanation for thought would be irrational and as such we should not believe it.

And stuff.
